Carrie is here to SERVE
Hi, my name is Carrie Couey and I love being able to serve the citizens of Garfield County as Treasurer and want to continue in this role. My office has operated on a very lean budget but still offers all the services that are expected. I've had some great successes in my relatively new role: I was able to collect $5.8 million through the Ursa bankruptcy. We had the highest collection year shown on our current software. Now that I've gotten my feet wet, I plan on implementing new innovations in my office, including new payment platforms, offering opt-in email options to receive tax notices, and I have newly implemented online-only releases of deeds of trust for qualified holders."
I have worked in a variety of industries and have been self-employed, giving me a well-rounded approach to this office. My educational background is in accounting, business, and organizational leadership with a specialization in public and nonprofit management. I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Distinguished Scholar award when I received my Master's Degree.
I am a wife of 24 years and mother of six beautiful kids. I have managed a large family along with a family-owned cattle ranch. I have worked professionally while pursuing an education. I have started a nonprofit benefiting Veterans with my husband. I have served on state-level commissions and boards and many local ones as well.
The Role of County Treasurer
